The second day of the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship 2023, sponsored by Prima Sunrise proved to be a spectacle of extraordinary talent and fierce competition at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC). Main sponsor Prima Sunrise continues to prop up with Sri Lanka Junior Golf for a record 15 years in tandem.
In the Gold Division (15 to 18 plus years Boys) saw Jevahn Sathasivam maintaining his stronghold on the lead, displaying consistency with a par round, securing an overall score of 140. Talented Yanik Kumara trailed closely at 143, and Kumar Danushan held the 3rd position with a score of 147. Top class junior golfer, Reshan Algama stole the limelight with a remarkable 4 under par round, a standout moment of the day. Reshan stormed back to end on 5th place on 150 after an ordinary first day. Thejas Rathis Kanth another leading junior golfer pulled out of the event due to unwell on the initial day.
The Girls Gold Division witnessed a captivating shift in leadership, as Kaya Daluwatta continue to occupy the top spot with an impressive overall score of 144. Sherin Balasuriya showcased her skills and determination, securing 2nd place with a score of 157, surpassing Aaliyah Laiza Achary (India) who finished at 159.
In the Silver Division (13 – 14+ Years Boys), Adithya Weerasinghe from Anuradhapura continued to impress, maintaining his lead with an overall score of 146. Keshav Algama claimed the 2nd position with a score of 156, while Kaiyan Johnpillai secured the 3rd spot with a score of 158.
The Silver Division Girls saw Keya Abhayaratne leading with a total score of 191, closely followed by Aaradhi Samarathne at 217.
Bronze Division saw Lavidu Premarathne from Anuradhapura dominated the Boys segment with a score of 119. Udeera Bandara, also hailing from Anuradhapura, secured the 2nd position with a score of 133. In the Girls Bronze Division, Bhavika Krishnan Unni (India) and Avighna Unni (India) both with a score of 124, jointly led the competition.
The Copper Division witnessed a fierce battle, with Revaan Amarasinghe once again claiming the top position in tandem on day 2 with an impressive score of 71, closely followed by Vivaan Singh (India) at 76 and Jaeden Sathasivam on 88.
