Husni Huwais clinched the champions trophy bagging 137 points overall at the 8th HNB Millennium Challenge Golf Trophy played at the Royal Golf Club yesterday. Vinod Weerasinghe secured the runner up position.
Hatton National Bank (HNB) recently sponsored the Millennium Trophy Golf Tournament at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) for the eighth consecutive year. The tournament saw over 165 golf enthusiasts participating.
A special category was introduced for HNB customers and the winner and the runner-up were given prizes including a return air ticket to Singapore.
The HNB customer event was won by Kapila Dandeniya while the runner-up was Aravind Fernando. There was also a Stableford Tournament which consisted of five categories.
In the Masters Division the winner was Anura Balasuriya and runner-up Nihal Boralessa, while Nirmal Jayasinghe and A.S. Abdeen was the winner and runner-up in the Senior Division.
Jonathan Alles, Managing Director and CEO of Hatton National Bank PLC, and Thimal Perera, Deputy General Manager of Retail and SME Banking, gave away the awards to the winners at the award ceremony.
The inaugural Millennium Golf Trophy Tournament which was allocated the status of a Board Event, was first conducted in 2001 to commemorate the massive refurbishment and development programme undertaken for the first time at the Royal Colombo Golf Club after over a century in existence.
