Himasha Eshan through to 60m Semifinals

Ace Sri Lankan sprinter and national record holder in the 100m, Himasha Eshan booked a spot in the semifinal of the 60m dash at the Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games (AIMAG) today (19th).

Competing in the 4th heat of the event, Himasha got on to a slow start but did very well to recover mid race to finish third with a time of 6.89secs to qualify for the semifinals scheduled to be held later today. He placed 7th out of the 24 athletes who qualified for the semifinals. Himasha will take part in the third of three semifinals and is scheduled to run his race at 1832hrs Sri Lankan time later today (19th). The final of the 60m Dash is scheduled to be held at 2045hrs today(19th) with the top 8 athletes from the semifinals making the cut for the next round.

Indunil Herath, who established a new national indoor record in the Men’s 800 heat yesterday clocking a time of 1:53.79, will be competing for a place in the finals at 1915hrs when he lines up in the first semifinal of the Men’s 800m. Herath was on top of the list of qualified athletes with his record breaking run and will focus on a good run today in order to secure a place in the finals tomorrow (20th).

Sri Lankan Triple Jumping sensation and national record holder Vidusha Lakshani will be taking part in the women’s Triple Jump finals scheduled to commence at 1730hrs while Long Jump national record holder Amila Jayasiri will be competing in the Men’s Long Jump Final scheduled to be held at 1930hrs.
