The second round fixtures of the Dialog Rugby League were released by the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU). All four matches of week 8 will be played this Saturday and there will be no breaks as the games continue.

Defending Champions Kandy SC finished round one with their unbeaten tag intact and despite their last minute win over CR&FC in the first round, Marija’s men still look like favourites to defend the title.

There’s an interesting battle for the 3rd and 4th place as well as 5th and 6th slots in the league table. Both CR&FC and Navy have scored a total of 25 points each, equal bonus points (5) and tries (27) but CR climb to third place with a better PA margin than the soldiers.

Although Army lost to Police last week in a nail biter (47-45) they still managed to grab the much needed losing bonus point. As a result the Soldiers finished 5th at the end of round one.

If Kandy and Havelocks continue their winning streak without losing any games until the last week of the upcoming round, then it will be a decider, but the four try bonus point might play a big role in the remaining 6 games before they play each other in Nittawela on the 28th of February.

If CR&FC, Navy, Police or Army pull out a surprise win over Kandy that will make the league even more interesting. On the other hand at the bottom of the table CH&FC look like they will get the wooden-spoon. They earned just one point, when they lost 16 – 14 against the Air Force in round one. Air Force was impressive in a few games but only in one half as they were lacking enough composure to play the full 80 minutes with the same intensity.

It is enticing to see who will become the top try/points scorer at the end of the league. Below is the list of the top three. Army full back Gayan Salinda is in the form of his life doing a great service for the Soldiers and Nuwan Perera of Air Force has been the man for the men in double blue.
