Gurukula College, Kelaniya qualified for the Semi Finals of the Under-19 Division 1 Tier ‘A’ Limited Overs Tournament 2025/26 after a thrilling victory over Mahinda College, Galle in their quarter final clash today (16th October) at Saliyapura Gajaba Regiment Cricket Grounds, Anuradhapura.
Electing to bat first, Mahinda College struggled to set a competitive total and were bowled out for a modest 124 runs.

Nethupa Sandiw starred with the ball for Gurukula College, claiming 4 wickets for just 23 runs, while Induwara Oshada and Deneth Deshan chipped in with 2 wickets each to dismantle the Galle side.
Despite the seemingly manageable target, Gurukula College’s run chase was far from straightforward. They reached the target in the 46th over, finishing with only 3 wickets in hand.
Middle-order batters Janith Mihiranga (45*) and Denura Dimansith (36) played pivotal roles, anchoring the innings with crucial knocks under pressure. Sadew Nethmina stood out with the ball for Mahinda College, taking 4 wickets for 36 runs and keeping the contest alive till the end.
With this hard-fought win, Gurukula College will now face Richmond College in what promises to be an exciting semi-final.
