Gateway College Colombo and Lyceum International School Wattala won the most coveted titles in the International Schools Basketball Tournament 2023 which concluded on Saturday (25th November) at Gateway College Colombo Courts in Rajagiriya.
The International Schools U19 Basketball Tournament 2023 provided spectators with an exhilarating showcase of talent, determination, and sportsmanship. The finals, held in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, featured gripping showdowns that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
In the Boys’ Final, Gateway College Colombo and Colombo International School clashed in a nail-biting thriller that will be remembered for years to come. The match unfolded as a high-stakes contest with both teams displaying exceptional skill and strategy. At the end of the first half, Gateway lead CIS 44 points to 28. In the end, Gateway College Colombo secured victory by the narrowest of margins, outscoring Colombo International School 83 points to 82. The Girls’ Final brought another spectacle as Gateway College Colombo faced off against Lyceum International School Wattala. At the end of the first half, the game was very well balanced as the two sides were separated by just two points where Lyceum College had a slender lead over Gateway College 30 points to 28 points. After the half-time break, Gateway College looked off color and then the game witnessed a dominant performance by Lyceum International School, which culminated in a convincing win with a final score of 60 points to 44.
