Expolanka Freight and Amana Takaful, filled with star players are favourites for the 37th Mercantile Football Seven-A-Side championship.
Expolanka and Amana Takaful are littered with Colombo FC and Renown SC/Saunders SC stars respectively, with Expolanka being champions in the Mercantile A Division 15-a-side format for the last three years.
Rawme Mohideen, Zarwan Johar, Mohamed Imran, Tuan Rizni, Niran Kanishka and Ahamed Shazny represent Expolanka while Mohamed Fazal, Fazul Rahuman, Mohamed Rizni, Uzman Hameed, Sanoj Sameera and Dilan Kausalya will take the field for Amana Takaful.
Amana Takaful are drawn in group A and Expolanka are in group D, while the two teams are destined to meet in the final the way the draw is set up.
There are 24 teams drawn into 8 groups with the group winners going through to the cup category and the runner-up going to the plate category.
The first round will held in league basis where there will be 24 matches played.
The tournament will be held at the CR&FC grounds on the 24th of July from 8.00am onwards.
