Unceasing rains in Colombo interrupted the U-19 Cricket encounters, involving Royal, Richmond, Nalanda and De Mazenod, bringing them to an abrupt end. The Royalists hosted the lads from Galle while the Nalandians welcomed the visitors from Kandana.

Royal College vs Richmond College

Richmond captain Sithara Gimhan won the toss and elected to bat first at the Reid Avenue wicket. The visitors got into a healthy start as the left-handed skipper took charge of the proceedings. 44 runs came off his willow, as Richmond piled up 119 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Rain halted the game after two hours of play, as further resumption became impossible. Randev Pathirana and Chandula Weliwita took a wicket each. The match was abandoned on the following day due to unplayable conditions from the overnight downpour.

Nalanda College vs De Mazenod

De Mazenod skipper Malshan Fernando won the toss and chose to field first. However rain interrupted the charge when Nalanda was struggling at 62/6 at the end of 28 overs. Anushka Nilan took 3 scalps. The delayed play was later called-off on the next day due to constant rains.
