The former S. Thomas’ College sportsman Dr. Sarath Kapuwatte was appointed as the president of Kandy sports club for the 16 year on Sunday during the 138th Annual General meeting.
Dr. Kapuwatte who took over the position as president of the club in 1990 and 1992 was one of the main reasons for Kandy SC dominance over the next two decades. Under the watchful eyes of Dr. Kapuwatte and his loyal team, he has improved the level of facilities and infrastructure which has been one of the main reasons for Kandy upliftment in the early 90’s.
The trustee of the club is Dharmasiri Madugalle while the patrons will be Malik Samarawickrama and Hemaka Amarasuriya.
The post of senior vice president will be chaired by Nihal Ratwatte while the two vice presidents will be Hafiz Marikkar and Emil Van der Poorten.
The positions of club secretary and club treasurer will be occupied by Mahesh Weerasinghe and Channa Jayathileke respectively.

Ground secretary – Nimal Gunesekera, Pavilion secretary – Udaya Balasuriya, games captains – Gayan Weeraratne (rugby), Sean Wijesinghe (P.T), Maurice Joachim (Pool & Billiards).
