The 4th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lions Sports Club was held last Sunday at the JAT Holdings Office Auditorium Hall in Thalawathugoda. As the highlight of the day, rugby promoter and founder of the Sri Lions Sports Club, Dr. Kalum Sujith Perera, was re-elected as President/Chairman.

In addition, Ms. Diana Oshadi and Mr. Kemith Lindula were re-elected as International Vice Presidents, while Mr. Channa Thilakarathne will continue his remarkable service as General Secretary for yet another year.

The Sri Lions Sports Club was established in Dubai by a group of sports enthusiasts who had migrated from Sri Lanka. Since then, the Sri Lions have embarked on a new journey and grown rapidly, offering a unique sporting experience. In later years, the club returned to Sri Lanka, aiming to reshape Sri Lankan rugby through a blend of local talent and international ambition.

The Sri Lions emerged as champions in their debut season in the Sri Lanka ‘B’ Division Rugby League 2024, earning a ticket to compete in the prestigious Mastercard Inter-Club ‘A’ Division Rugby League 2024/25. Furthermore, they successfully organised the second edition of the Sri Lions International Invitational Netball League 2025, showcasing their unwavering commitment to promoting this female-dominated sport.

Over the past few years, the club has established a strong platform for school leavers to continue their sporting careers without hanging up their boots. With the newly appointed and talented executive committee, the club aims to reach new heights in the game at both local and international levels. Sri Lankan sports enthusiasts remain hopeful that the Sri Lions will continue their commendable work in promoting Sri Lanka’s name on the global sports stage.
