The third day of the Asian junior Athletics championship ended in a sad day for the Lankans after starting the games brightly by winning two medals on the opening days.
Dilshani Fernando started off the day by qualifying for the finals in the 800 meter event but unfortunately came 8th in the finals. Lakshini Silva came 7th in the finals of women’s long jump. Sri Lanka 4 x 100 relay team came agonizingly close to a medal with Himasha Eshan in their team but just fell short by coming 4th in the finals.
However Himasha who won a silver medal in the 100 meters dash came 3rd in his heat to qualify for the 200 meter finals. There were also good news for the Lankans as the 4 x 400 meter relay team won their heat convincingly and had the best timing from all teams to qualify for the finals.
