Dinesh Herath wins Sri Lanka’s 2nd Paralympic medal

Dinesh Priyantha Herath, Sri Lankan Paralympian Javelin Thrower won the bronze medal in the Javelin F46 event, claiming Sri Lanka’s second Paralympic medal in the history of the games.

Herath achieved this feat with a personal best throw of 58.23M at the Olympic stadium in Rio. Chuliang Guo of China won the Silver medal while Devendra Jhajharia of India won Gold bettering his own world record.

This is the second Paralympic medal won by Sri Lanka with Pradeep Sanjaya winning Sri Lanka’s 1st ever medal at the 2012 London Paralympic games when he won the bronze medal at the 400M T46 event.

Herath was also a member of the Men’s 4X100 relay team which finished fourth in the final held yesterday.
