NCC vs Saracens

NCC continued their dominant run in white ball cricket when they put up another brilliant all-round performance to secure their spot in the final.

Niroshan Dickwella came into the game with a horror run of of low scores behind him but he rose to the occasion for NCC making a telling century. It was a much different Dickwella that we saw today as he took his time initially and built the innings while batting deep into it. His knock of 110 came off 132 balls and included only 9 fours as he put in the hard yards at a crucial juncture of the game.

NCC got much needed momentum towards the latter part of their innings with both Mahela Udawatte and Chathuranga De Silva smashing quick fire half centuries to put NCC well in control at 327/5 during the half way stage. Upul Tharanga also made a half century at the top of the order to set a brilliant foundation for the middle and lower order.

Most of the Saracens batsmen got starts but none of them kicked on as the run rate continued to rise before they were eventually bowled out for 238 with more than six overs to spare. Youngster Ashen Bandara top scored with a fighting half century but none of the other batsmen managed to capitalize on their starts as Saracens succumbed to a 89 run loss at the hands of a much fancied NCC unit. Fast bowlers Farveez Maharoof, Dushmantha Chameera and Lasith Malinga all picked up two wickets apiece for the winners.
