The first 2 matches of the four-day competition of the inaugural National Super League ended in draws today (27th February) at Galle and Hambantota international cricket stadiums.

Kandy vs Galle

Galle replied strongly with the bat scoring 465 runs for their first innings after conceding 482 runs to Kandy in their first innings. The leg-spinning all-rounder Suminda Lakshan scored his 5th first-class century today smashing 106 runs off 138 balls with 8 fours and a six at 76.81.

The off-spinning all-rounder Sahan Arachchige was the pick of the bowlers for Kandy as he snared 3 scalps for 62 runs while Nipun Ransika, Asitha Fernando and Avindu Theekshana chipped in with taking 2 wickets each for Kandy.

Kandy began their second innings 17 runs ahead and posted 253/5 in 64.4 overs at the close of play on day four. Sri Lanka Test discard Oshada Fernando notched up a classy ton while the skipper Kamindu Mendis chipped in with a useful half-century for Kandy.

After being 309 runs for 8 wickets at the close of play on day three, Colombo added 51 more runs to the total as they were restricted to 360 for their first innings.

Sri Lanka Test discard Roshen Silva top-scored for Colombo scoring an unbeaten 174 runs off 259 balls with 19 fours. The speedster Kasun Madushanka, spinners Kalhara Senarathne and Dunith Wellalage picked up 2 wickets each for Jaffna.

Jaffna began their second innings with a 195-run lead, and they continued their domination with the bat posting 217/5 at the close of play on day four. The skipper Samarawickrama brought his second half-century in the match top scoring with a knock of 96 runs off 118 balls with 11 fours.
