Two more matches of the National Super League 4-day tournament commenced today (10th March) at Dambulla and Colombo. 

Dambulla vs Galle

Having won the toss, Dambulla skipper Minod Bhanuka opted to bat first and it turned out to be a good decision as they had a fruitful day with the bat on day one.

The skipper Bhanuka and Nimesha Gunasinghe stroked tons as Dambulla posted 332/5 at the end of the first day’s play. Bhanuka who remained unbeaten at stumps made 140 runs off 173 balls with 17 fours while Gunasinghe stroked 103 runs off 221 balls with 5 fours.

Bhanuka and Gunasinghe added a 194-run partnership for the fourth wicket in the Dambulla innings. The off-spinner Akila Dananjaya had a decent outing with the ball picking up 3 wickets for 74 runs for Galle.

Kandy vs Colombo

Kandy team finished day one in a strong position having dismissed four top-order wickets of Colombo for just 28 runs after posting 241 runs on the board for their first innings.

Sri Lanka Test discard Oshada Fernado continued his terrific form with the bat scoring another impressive ton. Fernando made 105 runs off 154 balls with 15 fours and a six.

In the bowling department, it was Colombo’s spin twins Prabath Jaysuriya and Lakshitha Manasinghe delivered with the ball picking up 3 wickets each.

Colombo had a terrible passage of time with the bat in the final hour of play just before the stumps as they lost 4 wickets for 28 runs in 13.4 overs.
