Colombo and Kandy registered wins in the two games of the Dialog-SLC National Super League 2022, which concluded today at the Pallekele and Dambulla International Cricket Stadiums.
Dambulla vs Colombo
Having won the toss, Dambulla Skipper Minod Bhanuka opted to field first, but it did not turn out to be a good decision as Colombo posted a massive 317 runs on the board. The opening batter Sithara Gimhan and number 3 batter Nuwanidu Fernando impressed with the bat, scoring centuries for Colombo.
Gimhan scored his maiden List A century, aggregating 110 runs off 104 balls with 13 fours and 3 sixes, while Fernando also made his maiden List A century by scoring 100 runs off 82 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes for Colombo.
The Dambulla batters needed a good start to a big run-chase like this, but it was not to be to the case as they lost the first 4 wickets for just 32 runs. The middle order batters Lasith Abeyratne and Sameera Sadamal showed some fight, scoring 57 runs each, but they were unable to go past the line as Colombo registered a massive 107-run victory.

Kandy vs Jaffna
After been put into bat first, the strong Jaffna outfit struggled with the bat as they were bowled out for just 109 runs in 30.2 overs. The 20-year old off-spinner Ashian Danie,l playing his first game of the tournament, registered his second 5-wicket haul in List A career, claiming 5 for 27.
Though the target of 110 seems a walk in the park on paper, Kandy faced some jitters in the middle, losing half of their side as they crossed over the line in the 27th over. The opening batter Niroshan Dickwella top scored with 45 runs off 34 balls with 8 fours for the victorious Kandy team.
