Two games of the Dialog-SLC National Super League 2022 came to a close today (4th Feb). Jaffna defeated Dambulla at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium while Galle got the better of Colombo at Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

Dambulla vs Jaffna

Having won the toss Dambulla stand-in skipper Minod Bhanuka opted to bowl first at Pallekele. Jaffna got off to a shaky start losing 3 quick wickets upfront but managed to recover well thanks to a brilliant century by the skipper Dhananjaya De Silva.

De Silva made 101 runs off 120 balls with 10 fours and a six. In the bowling department, it was the seaming all-rounder Lahiru Samarakoon who once again stood up with the ball for Dambulla taking 4 scalps for 61 runs.

The target of 267 was a stiff one for Dambulla batters who have been struggling with the bat throughout the tournament. As expected, they fell short of 51 runs of the target though Sameera Sadamal (46) and Duvindu Tillakaratne (42) showed some resistance with fighting knocks.

The experienced campaigner Nuwan Pradeep showed his worth with the ball picking up 3 wickets while Ishan Jayaratne and Damitha Silva also chipped in with 2 scalps each for Jaffna.
