Colombo Kaps continued their winning momentum in the Lanka Premier League 2026, defeating Dambulla Sixers by 21 runs in the 12th match of the tournament played today (25th July) at the Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

After being put into bat first, Colombo Kaps posted a formidable total of 197 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, led by a sensational unbeaten innings from skipper Kamindu Mendis.

Mendis played a blistering knock of 88 runs off just 39 deliveries, smashing 9 fours and 4 sixes at an impressive strike rate of 225.64. His explosive innings provided the perfect finish to the Colombo Kaps batting effort.

Opening batter Rubin Hermann also made a valuable contribution at the top of the order, scoring 39 runs off 24 balls with 6 fours and a six to lay the foundation for a big total.

Chasing 198 for victory, Dambulla Sixers fought hard but were restricted to 176 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Pavan Rathnayake led the chase with a fighting half-century, scoring 50 runs, while Marques Ackerman contributed with a valuable 40-run knock. However, the Sixers were unable to maintain the required scoring rate throughout the innings.

For Colombo Kaps, Shahnawaz Dahani and Mujeeb Ur Rahman were the standout performers with the ball, claiming two wickets each to keep Dambulla Sixers under control.
