Two matches of the 25th Singer MCA Premier League were worked off today(19) at the FTZ grounds, Katunayake and Surrey village, Maggona respectively.

Commercial Credit ‘A’ vs John Keells Holdings ‘A’

John Keells Holdings ‘A’ won the toss and decided to field first at the FTZ grounds in Katunayake in their game against Commercial Credit ‘A’.

Left arm tweaker Chamikara Edirisinghe ripped through the Commercial Credit batting with top figures of 5/32, while he got good support from his pace bowlers Vikum Sanjaya(3/54) and Ishan Jayaratne(2/13) who shared five wickets between them.

Dilshan Munaweera looked in red hot form once again racing to 45 runs but Commercial Credit lost their way after his dismissal, before eventually being bowled out for 178 inside 35 overs.

Asitha Fernando led a spirited comeback for Commercial Credit picking up three crucial wickets while Imesha Udayanga, Suraj Randiv and Sachith Pathirana shared two wickets apiece as they bowled out JKH for just 121 inside 30 overs to secure a frantic 57 run win.

The only man to show some fight for JKH was former Thomian Madushan Ravinchandrakumar as he remained unbeaten on 34* with wickets falling around him.

Hayleys PLC vs Hatton National Bank

Hayleys PLC continued to struggle in the top division as they were bundled out for a paltry 135 after winning the toss and electing to bat first at the Surrey Village grounds in Maggona.

Naveen Gunawardena was the star bowler for Hatton National Bank picking up 3/22 while Kosala Kulasekara and Lahiru Vimukthi picked up two apiece.

None of their batsmen managed to cross the 30 run mark as they folded up inside 36 overs due to a disciplined bowling effort by the HNB bowlers.

HNB went through some nervy moments in their run chase before eventually getting there in the 37th over and four wickets in hand.

Deshan Dias made a fighting half century while Kosala Kulasekara guided the latter part of the run chase with an unbeaten 26*.

Right arm seamer Ali Khan bowled impressively to pick up three wickets for Hayleys PLC while left arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya chipped in with two.
