Colts fall prey to Wanindu Hasaranga special

The third week of the Sri Lanka Cricket Premier League Tier A Tournament concluded today with CCC and NCC recording outright wins.

Colts resuming their second innings on 96/7 folded up in no time on day three, as CCC recorded an innings and 158 run victory in their home den.

The architect of the win was Wanindu Hasaranga who hit a brilliant century and followed it up with a stunning 8 wickets in the second innings, as the Colts batsman had no answers to his right arm leg spinners and were struggling to pick his googlies.

Hasaranga also became the second Sri Lankan to score a 100 and to claim 8 or more wickets in a First-Class match in the process, after Suraj Randiv who achieved this feat during the 2009/10 season against Army SC.

Army SC vs Tamil Union

Manoj Sarathchandra’s second century of the tournament helped Tamil Union run down a stiff first innings target set by the soldiers, while Sithara Gimhan made an impressive 96.

Sarathchandra showed excellent skill in batting with the tail as he guided his team to crucial first innings points.

Ragama CC vs Saracens

Ragama CC were given a scare after they set Saracens SC 257 to win in 120 minutes, as Saracens ended the match on 222/5 in 30 overs.

The Sri Lankan born former Canadian International Ruvindu Gunasekara hit a blazing 70 off 57 balls while Minhaj Jaleel also chipped in with a half century.

Earlier in the Udara Jayasundera fell for 97 as Ragama CC made 211/8 declared after securing first innings points on day two through Sahan Nanayakkara hat-rick.

Bloomfield vs SSC

Kaushal Silva’s double hundred was the highlight of the drawn game between Bloomfield and SSC played at the Bloomfield grounds in Colombo.

SSC decided to declare their innings after securing a 201 run lead, before Bloomfield batsmen batted out the day on the back of a fine century from their captain Nipun Karunanayake.

Another Lasith Embuldeniya special helped NCC record an outright win over a high rising BRC outfit today.

Embuldeniya ended with top figures of 10/129 in the match, while Lahiru Kumara also chipped in with three wickets in the second innings to go along with his two in the first innings.

NCC were left with 103 to register an outright win, before they cruised to a five wicket victory with Mahela Udawatte making a quick fire half century.
