Club cricket summary: Tamil Union recovers to beat Colts

Tamil Union staged a stunning fight back to beat the high-riding Colts outfit while CCC completed an easy win over Chilaw Marians as the week two of the SLC Premier League Tournament 2014/15 ended on Sunday with only two outright victories.

All other four matches ended as drawn games with NCC, Moors, Badureliya and Saracens claiming first-innings points. 

Tamil Union vs Colts

Pabasara Waduge and Kithruwan Vithanage slammed centuries while Nisala Tharaka and Ramith Rambukwella took four wickets apiece as Tamil Union beat Colts by 182 runs at Colts grounds. 

Tamil Union – 207 all out in 63 overs: Manoj Sarathchandra 52, Nisala Tharaka 42, Banuka Rajapakshe 3/33, Sachith Pathirana 2/51.  

Colts – 296 all out in 64.3 overs: Shehan Jayasooriya 43, Roshen Silva 96, Ishan Jayarathne 48, Nisala Tharaka 3/85, Chamikara Edirisinghe 5/74. 

Tamil Union (2nd inn) – 400/8 declared in 91 overs: Pabasara Waduge 164, Kithruwan Vithanage 103, Dilruwan Perera 4/118, Ishan Jayaratne 3/65.

Colts (2nd inn) – 129 all out in 41.5 overs: Ishan Jayaratne 39, Nisala Tharaka 4/36, Ramith Rambukwella 4/41. 

 

CCC vs Chilaw Marians

CCC easily chased down their target of 135 with five wickets to spare to beat Chilaw Marians convincingly at Maitland Crescent. 

Chilaw Marians – 71 all out in 33.4 overs: Gayan De Silva 13, Arosh Janoda 5/13, Maduka Liyanapathirana 2/0.

CCC – 181 all out in 50 overs: Hashan Dumindu 44, Gayan De Silva 4/51, Lahiru Gamage 5/63. 

Chilaw Marians (2nd inn) – 244 all out in 66.4 overs: Nimesh Perera 71, Maduka Liyanapathiranage 3/40, Lakshan Sandakan 4/83 Dinuka Hettiarachchi 3/35.

CCC (2nd inn) – 135/5 in 28.5 overs: Lasith Abeyratne 33, Prasanna Jayawardane 25, Chanaka Komasaru 3/38. 

 

SSC vs Saracens

Tharanga Paranavithana’s resilient century helped SSC save the game against Saracens at Katunayake. 

Saracens – 272 all out in 68 overs: Umesh Karunaratne 106, Geeth Kumara 53, Jeffrey Vandersay 6/69, Danushka Gunathilake 3/48.

SSC – 198 all out in 67.5 overs: Thilina Kandamby 63, Charith Jayampathi 33, Umesh Karaunaratne 6/66. 

Saracens (2nd inn) – 291 all out in 78.4 overs: Chalitha Helambage 64, Dhanushka Gunathilaka 6/70, Jeffrey Vandersay 3/119.

Badureliya and Bloomfield

Primosh Perera and Madawa Warnapura stroked elegant and match-saving centuries to help Bloomfield save the game against Badureliya at Bloomfield grounds. 

Bloomfield – 156 all out in 47.1 overs: Suraj Randiv 55, Charitha Buddika 3/22, Mohammed Dilshan 3/26, Milinda Siriwardena 3/19.

NCC took major honours in their drawn match against Ragama at Maitland Place.

Moors held on to their first-innings points against Army at Braybrooke Place where left-arm spinner Ravindra Palleguruge captured a ten-wicket match bag for the visitors.
