Club Cricket Summary: Lahiru Milantha slams maiden first-class century

Lahiru Milantha returned to Sri Lanka with a bang after his scholarship in Australia as the 20-year old former Peterite stroked his maiden first-class century on the second day of the fourth week matches in the SLC Premier League Tournament 2014/15. 

Except the Ragama CC vs Tamil Union C & AC match, all other matches commenced on Friday and they were badly hampered by the evening showers. 

Ragama vs Tamil Union

Lahiru Milantha’s stylish knock of 110 in 194 deliveries helped Ragama gain first innings lead after their bowlers restricted the hosts, Tamil Union to 290 on Thursday at P. Sara Oval grounds. The visiting, Ragama CC enjoy a 30-run lead going into the final day of the match. 

Tamil Union – 290 all out in 73.3 overs: Manoj Sarathchandra 72, Romesh Buddika 78, Sanjaya Fernando 3/72, Malinga Bandara 3/60, Chathura Peiris 2/71, Nilanka Premarathne 2/51.

Ragama – 320/6 in 81.5 overs: Lahiru Milantha 110, Eranga Rathnayake 85, Pramod Liyanagamage 3/36, Koshan Danushka 2/55. 

 

SSC vs Moors

Only 62.3 overs were possible on day one and Moors bowlers capitalized the fresh surface at SSC grounds to restrict the hosts to 184/7 at stumps.

NCC vs Bloomfield

Seasoned campaigner, Jehan Mubarak continued his brilliant form as he top-scored for NCC in their first innings against Bloomfield at Maitland Place. 

NCC – 256/7 in 69.1 overs: Jehan Mubarak 76, Lahiru Udara 51, Vishwa Fernando 2/31, Suraj Randiv 2/57, Nuwan Pradeep 2/82. 

 

Saracens vs SL Ports Authority

Exchanges were evenly shared by both teams in another rain-hampered encounter at CCC grounds. 

Saracens – 195/6 in 72.5 overs: Ishan Nilaksha 32, Chanaka Ruwansiri 42*, Malinda Pushpakumara 2/5. 

 

SL Army vs Chilaw Marians

Bowlers dominated proceedings at R. Premadasa Stadium as 14 wickets fell on day one with only 63 overs were played between the Soldiers and the Marians from Chilaw. 

Army – 136 all out in 42.2 overs: Sanjika Ridma 41, Dilan Soysa 40, Chalana De Silva 3/12, Lahiru Gamage 3/23, Nimesh Perera 2/43.

Chilaw Marians – 27/4 in 20.4 overs: Rohit Damodaran 10*, Shalika Karunanayake 2/6. 

 

Badureliya vs SL Air Force

Skipper Milinda Siriwardene stroked 66 in 88 balls as Badureliya ended the day on top with a healthy score on the board against the Airmen at Surrey Village, Maggona.
