Ranjith Fernando will be replacing Charith Senanayake as the Manager of the Sri Lankan Cricket team on Sri Lanka’s upcoming tour of South African tour.

Sri Lanka cricket announced today (8 December) Charith Senanayake will be replaced by former national player and commentator Ranjith Fernando as the Manager of the Sri Lankan Cricket team.

Senanayake first took over the post in 2008 from former Sri Lankan skipper Anura Tennekoon. He was reinstated as Manager for his second stint in the position in April this year after he was unceremoniously sacked in February 2013.

Ashely de Silva CEO for Sri Lanka Cricket explained that a rotation policy was in-effect for all team management which he pointed out was the reason for this change.

Ranjith Fernando served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka for 12 consecutive years after his retirement.

When the media questioned Senanayake on his contract period at SLC, he stated “I am contracted till September, next year”.  But went on to conferring that he does not know what his next post at SLC was going to be.
