The Sri Lanka Golf Ranking Tournament was worked off successfully last Friday [14th October] at Nuwara Eliya Golf Course.
M. U. Chanaka Perera emerged in the top spot in the rankings with a gross score of 291 over four rounds. Perera pipped Uchintha Ranasinghe by 4 strokes, leaving Ranasinghe as the 1st runner up in the tournament.
Priya Hemanatha, Coach of A’ Pura, placed 3rd after a tight battle with Ranasinghe, although Chalitha Pushpika was named as the official 2nd runner-up because Priya Hemantha is a Coach and he only participated on behalf of the Sri Lankan Golf players.
Due to heavy rainfall, the course was not easy to negotiate, and given the consequences the scores of the top three contestants were considered a fair return.
Chanaka and Uchitha are currently under training for the forthcoming Asia Pacific Golf Tournament in Thailand, which is scheduled to commence by the end of this month.
