Navy Sports Club fly-half and national player Chanaka Chandimal will be sidelined after being infected with chickenpox despite picked for the 12-member touring squad ahead of the 1st leg of the Asia Sevens Series.

The former Vidyartha College player earned his call back to the national sevens outift having proven his worth in the local sevens circuit over past few months. With less than two days to go for the team’s departure, Chandimal has to sit this one out.

The former Peterite and Sri Lanka U20 Sevens captain will take Chandimal’s spot

Taking the 28-year-old’s spot will be the former Sri Lanka U20 sevens skipper Kevin Dixon who has been included the to the 12-member-squad ahead of the 1st leg. Kevin Dixon was initially drafted in the extended training squad and later was included as a stand-by.

The Sri Lanka sevens team led by Sudarshana Muthuthanthri will leave for Hong Kong tomorrow (29th) ahead of the 1st leg of the Asia Sevens Series.
