Prince of Wales College and St. Sebastian’s College had to be satisfied with only with a tame draw as rain took the center stage in their 65th Battle of the Golds which ended on Saturday at De Soysa grounds in Moratuwa. 

Rain was falling heavily after the first session of play on the second day forcing the umpires to call off the 9th annual battle of the golds 

Rain wreaked havoc for four sessions of a possible nine as the 136th Battle of the Blues dwindled into an inglorious draw.

Afternoon showers totally deprived any play in the latter stages on day one in the 9th Battle of the Golds between DS Senanayake College and Mahanama College at P. Sara Oval stadium which commenced on Friday. 

Prince of Wales' skipper Jayanga Peiris hammered a solid century before rain spoiled the first day’s play in their 65th Battle of the Golds against St. Sebastian’s College on Friday at De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa.

Poor ground conditions and the downpour of rain prevented the Trinity Anthonian battle to progress forward on its first day as play ended with only 31 overs bowled proving a disappointment to the players and the spectators gathered.

Persistent rain hogged the Sinhalese Sports Club grounds as two sessions of play were washed away in the 136th Battle of the Blues with S.Thomas’ College looking to assert the authority.
