As a result, Fernando has been put into self-quarantine under the health guidelines of the medical authorities and will not join the rest of the Sri Lanka squad who are expected to enter the bio-secure bubble on Sunday.
The loss of Fernando will be massive as he is one of the in-form batters for Sri Lanka in ODIs. However, in-form Kusal Mendis, who is returning from suspension, is likely to take Fernando’s place in the squad.
The 3 match ODI series, which is part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, will commence on 16th January. All matches will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
