Australia dominates Australasia Cup 2018

Australia wins Australasia Indoor Cricket Cup 2018 being unbeaten throughout the tournament.
The tournament was conducted by the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association and had Australia, India, Singapore and Sri Lanka contesting in the tourney. The games were played at the Austasia International Sports and Leisure Complex from 20th to 24th September 2018.

Australia and Sri Lanka had their U21 men, U21 women and Open women teams too, playing series against their counterparts.
The senior men played their tourney on a league basis where each team plays two games against each of the other. At the end of the league, the host, Sri Lanka, managed wins against India and Singapore and finished third in the table with 20 points. Singapore finished last with 9 points while Australia and India played the final finishing first and second respectively. India recorded 2 wins for their tally while Aussies remained unbeaten right across. Australia also triumphed in the other three U21 men, U21 women and open women bilateral tours.

In the final, Australia posted a massive 121 runs in their quota by batting first. Thanks to the three tremendous thirty or more skins. In reply, India got off to a very sloppy start of minus forty-five, from which they couldn’t recover thereafter. Thus, ending the innings at a minus thirty-two. Timothy Floros was adjudged the player of the match for his overall performances. He made fourteen runs with the bat and picking up six wickets with the ball. Australia won the series with 52 points up front.

The Australians have been the pioneers of this wonderful version of the game. Having won all the world cups of indoor cricket, Australia is a giant in indoor cricket. They kept up to their standards and didn’t lose a single game in any of the series throughout the tour.
