The second match of the tournament was also that of Army (Mens) playing against Air Force (Mens) in which Army became triumphant in a fast paced intense match as they outscored Air Force by 13 points.

The game started off with the Army players getting the jump ball possession and there was no time wasted as they quickly converted it into 2 points but the Air force players momentarily countered with a shot from downtown and it was clear it was going to be a very intense match from the very beginning as both teams relentlessly attacked the rim and played a very fast-paced game. The Army players were in favour of a man to man defence to which their opponents were trying to create a mismatch and score but failed as the Army team led by 4 points at the end of the 1st quarter.

The Army team was fast to react in the second quarter intercepting the ball and scoring first. The Air force team found it difficult to penetrate the man to man defence and switched to shooting mid-range jumpers which weren’t as successful as they would have hoped. The Army players rebounding was superior to that of the Air Force players which led to the Air Force players failing to recover the ball from missed shots and the deficit grew by the end of the second half to 7 points but the Air force players were still giving a tough fight as they rejected many of their opponents shots and it wouldn’t have been an easy win for either team.

Half time : Air Force – 29 Army – 36

It seemed that Air force team had used the half time break well as they came in with whole new offensive and defensive strategies to reduce the deficit which worked in the first few minutes of the quarter as they scored first and also outscored the Army team during the quarter by opting for a man to man defensive strategy yet their lack of rebounds allowed the Army players to keep the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Army players noticed their strong suits over the opponents and switched to shooting from around the perimeter to increase the deficit.

During the final 10 minutes of the game the Army team scored first and all they needed was to protect this lead to seal their victory although they seemed to have lost their composure at the start of the quarter as they missed many of the shots they attempted but they settled back into the game close to the end of the quarter and knocked down a few shots from downtown sealing their victory as the Air Force players were only left with 30 seconds to cover the 13 point deficit created after the final shot of the Army team.
