Stern action is set to be taken by the Ministry of Sports..

The petition was filed by former SLC secretary Nishantha Ranathunga who is the main opponent for the incumbent President Thilanga Sumathipala.

According to reliable sources, the petition which was taken up today has over 1800 pages against 27 respondents.

The Court of Appeal postponed the election by two weeks and set the next hearing for June 14th.

The appointment of the Election Committee by the Executive Committee of SLC was earlier deemed unconstitutional by the Attorney General hence prompting the Sports Minister Faiszer Musthapha to postpone the SLC elections from 19th May to 31st May.

At an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on 19th May at SLC headquarters, the membership then appointed a five-member Election Committee to conduct all election proceedings.
