Apna and Dinara clinch SSC Open Tennis Titles

Apna Perera from Ananda College secured the Men’s Open Singles title, while Dinara de Silva from St. Bridget’s Convent clinched the Women’s Open Singles title, at the First Capital SSC Open Tennis Championship 2024.

In the Men’s Final, Apna Perera got the better of Kiran Vairavanathan in straight sets – 6/3, 6/4, 6/4 – to win the championship.

The 15-year old Dinara de Silva defeated the defending champion Saajida Razick in the Final to clinch the Women’s Championship.

After losing the first set by 6/7, De Silva came back strong to win the next two sets by 6/2 and 6/1 to win the Women’s title. De Silva’s victory was a significant achievement as she managed to clinch her 3rd consecutive National Level Championship.

Having won last year’s Nationals at the age of 14, De Silva triumphed at the Queen’s Club Open Tournament before clinching this title at the First Capital SSC Open Tennis Championship.
