Ananda College disqualified and sent home!

Ananda College who qualified for the Milo Premier Trophy finals by defeating Lumbini College in the semi-final has been disqualified from the tournament after being guilty of foul play. 

The Ananda College team was found guilty of listing an ineligible player in the match-day 25 in last Friday’s semi-final against Lumbini which they won 26-22.

“After a complaint was made, we (the SLSRFA) investigated the matter and found that one player which the Ananda College team had on that day for the semi-final was ineligible and cannot participate in the tournament” 

“We had an inquiry and it was decided that Lumbini College gets the win from the match due to the foul play of Ananda” added Nirodha Wijerama, secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) commenting on the incident.

It is a disappointing finish for the Anandians who clinched an exciting last-minute win against Lumbini. The secretary of the SLSRFA did not comment if Ananda College will be facing further punishment for their actions in the Milo Premier Trophy semi-final.

Lumbini College are through to the finals!

This means that Lumbini College will face Thurstan College in the all-important final on Friday(19th) at the Royal Complex.
