Amara Indumathi Karunathilaka, Sri Lanka’s sole female Paralympian, has achieved qualification to compete in the women’s 400M T45/46/47 final to be held on Friday. She achieved this feat clocking a time of 01.02.07 in the first heat of the event and  is placed 7th in the overall standings for her time in the heat.

Indumathi will be determined and motivated to replicate the success achieved by Dinesh Herath who won Sri Lanka’s first medal at the Paralympic games 2016 in the Javelin throw F46 event.

Sri Lanka has fielded 9 athletes for this year’s Rio Paralympic games who will compete in 24 events.
