Sri Lanka swimmer Akalanka Peiris completed his first event in Birmingham 2022 – Commonwealth Games – Men’s 50m Butterfly event – with a season’s personal best time of 24.89, finishing 22nd in the preliminary round.
Peiris was able to up his entry time achieved in January 2022 by 0.22 seconds, though he merely missed his personal best by 0.03 seconds.
Peiris will take part in his pet event Men’s 50m Backstroke, on 31st July at 15:31 SL Time. In the preliminary round, he will perform in Heat 06, and Lane 06 with an entry time of 25.31.
The other Sri Lankan Swimmer Ganga Senevirathne will perform her debut event in the Women’s 100m Backstroke tomorrow, 30th July at 15:57 SL Time in Heat 04, Lane 08 with an entry time of 1:06.51. Additionally, her next event – Women’s 200m Backstroke – will be on the 1st of August at 15:04 SL Time, and she will swim in Heat 02, Lane 07 with an entry time of 2:30.23.
