The organizers were forced to call off the finals of the inter-school girls’ and boys’ tournaments owing to rain and bad ground conditions and joint championships were awarded to the teams that qualified for the finals. This meant that St. Thomas’ College, Matale and St. Joseph Vas College, Wennappuwa took the boys’ title while Seethadevi College, Kandy and defending champions Sangamiththa College, Matale walked away as joint champions in the girls’ championship.
Due to the heavy rainfall only the first round matches were played on day one while on day two the bad weather persisted and only a few matches were played. The tournament organizing committee then decided that the matches to come would be decided by penalty strokes.
