Ladies’ College continued their dominance as they comfortably defeated Musaeus College 48-4 in the 11th Annual Regatta.
Musaeus College were on the back of 52-0 humbling from last year at the hands of Ladies’ College crew but were unable to turn the tide in their favour.
Ladies’ College got off to strong start, cruising to victory in the two scull events. Ishara Abbey of Ladies’ put up the first points on the board, putting up a strong performance in the A Scull against the Musaeus captain Janethri Marapana.
Her performance was backed up by crewmate Yellani Rasaputhra who overcame Senuri De Silva to move the score line upto 08 – 00
Musaeus managed to strike back in the B pairs event, taking advantage of some poor aligning by the Ladies pair. Malki Wijesekera and Ranuli Wickramasekara managed to put the points on the board with winning by over ten seconds against Tarea Karunaratne and Davina Koch.

Ladies’ struck back in the A Pair however, with Isabella Sansoni and Thiranya Fernando defeating the Musaeus pair of Dilki Wijesekera and Janethri Marapana. This meant that Ladies’ took major honours in the pairs segment of the regatta, coming off with a score line of 16 – 04 in their favour.
Ladies’ College extended the lead to 21 – 04 when Ishara Abbey and Anika Ahamed bagged the B Double scull event while the dominant Yellani Rasaputhra and Anoushka Tissera won the A Double scull, thus retaining the Marie Musaeus Higgins Trophy. The scores read 28 – 04.
The Musaeus crew was left to row for pride in the Boat Race but after a close tussle the Ladies College crew of Tehani Walpola, Isabella Sansoni, Thiranya Fernando, Ishara Abbey and Anika Ahamed pipped to the finish line in record time of 3.58. Final score LC 48- MC 4.

“There is no better feeling!” said the euphoric vice-captain of Ladies Captain Anika Ahamed.
“We have had a very good season performed well in the tournaments we’ve participated and this is the icing on the cake for us.” Anika added.
“Seven Years of amazing memories, sportsmanship, blood, sweat and tears have come to an end. To finish off my final season on this high is amazing.” reflecting on her school career Anika further added.
