Pakistan registered a convincing win over Sri Lanka in the first Women’s ODI of the three-match series played today (23rd July) at Hambantota.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bat first but were restricted to 210 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs despite fighting knocks from skipper Chamari Athapaththu and Nilakshika Silva.

Silva and Athapaththu top-scored with 46 runs apiece, helping Sri Lanka post a competitive total after losing wickets at regular intervals.
Left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu was the standout performer with the ball for Pakistan, claiming 3 wickets for 42 runs, while the rest of the bowling attack chipped in with timely breakthroughs.
In reply, Pakistan produced a composed batting display to chase down the target with five wickets in hand and seven overs to spare.
Opener Gull Feroza laid the foundation for the successful chase with a superb 78, while No. 3 batter Sidra Amin added a fluent 57 as the pair guided Pakistan into a commanding position.
Although Sri Lanka managed to pick up a few wickets in the latter stages, the visitors remained in control and reached the target in 43 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Off-spinner Kaveesha Dilhari was the most successful Sri Lankan bowler, finishing with figures of 2 for 37.
