The National Cricket Selection Committee has announced a 15-member Sri Lanka squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

In one of the major talking points of the selection, Kamindu Mendis has earned a surprise recall to the squad, adding further depth and versatility to Sri Lanka’s middle order. Meanwhile, seasoned campaigner Dhananjaya de Silva has been left out of the squad following a run of underwhelming performances in recent outings.

Sri Lanka’s pace attack will be spearheaded by Dushmantha Chameera, alongside the exciting young duo of Matheesha Pathirana and Eshan Malinga, providing the hosts with express pace and variety in all phases of the innings.

The spin department will be led by Wanindu Hasaranga, with Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage completing a strong trio of frontline spinners, giving Sri Lanka plenty of options in conditions expected to assist turn.

As co-hosts, Sri Lanka will be eager to make a strong start to their campaign when they take on Ireland in their opening match of the tournament on 8th February.
