Sri Lanka Cricket, under the direction of President of the SLC Mr. Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee, has taken several measures to support the government’s ongoing relief efforts in response to the extreme weather conditions that have caused immense hardship across the country.

RPICS, Colombo

The RPICS in Colombo was opened last Friday to accommodate members of the public who were displaced after their homes were submerged by floodwaters.

Sri Lanka Cricket has instructed the administrative staff of the RPICS to work closely with government officials to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the relief center.

Food Distribution

Sri Lanka Cricket has also begun providing daily meal packets to support the relief efforts.

The program, which commenced on Saturday, ensures that meal packs are handed over each day to the government’s official relief distribution centers to assist affected communities.

Required Support

In addition, the Honorary President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr. Shammi Silva, and the Honorary Treasurer, Mr. Sujeeva Godaliyadda, met with the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Sunil Kumara Gamage, and other government officials involved in the relief operations to extend SLC’s full support to the ongoing relief program.

Sri Lanka National Team

The Sri Lanka National Team observed one minute of silence on Saturday to honor the victims who lost their lives during the extreme weather conditions.

The tribute took place prior to the final of the Tri-Series T20I Tournament in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, with the Pakistan players also joining the observance.
