The start of 4th and final day was delayed due to wet ground conditions. After around an hour’s delay, the play began for day 4 with the overnight batters Nishan Madushka and Lasith Embuldeniya remaining unbeaten at the crease.
Madushka went on to score his 11th first-class ton, continuing his rich form in red-ball Cricket. Madushka was dismissed for 105 runs as the first wicket of the day, opening the door for the visitors to get into the game.
After the dismissal of the set batter Madushka, Sri Lanka witnessed a chaotic period in the middle as they lost 4 wickets for 60 runs, being restricted to 279/7. However, the wicket-keeper batter Lahiru Udara and Lakshitha Manasinghe provided late impetus to the innings, adding a vital 76-run partnership for the 8th wicket.
Udara stroked a 65-run knock, while Manasinghe contributed with a useful 43 runs as Sri Lanka ‘A’ posted 356, setting a target of 284 for the visitors.
The visitors were unable to get going in the run-chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals. The Sri Lankan spinners were right on the money with their lines and lengths, causing many problems to the visitors’ batting lineup.
Manasinghe led the charge with the ball for Sri Lanka ‘A’ taking a 5-fer. Though, the visitors struggled to cope up with Sri Lankan spin threat, they managed to survive and hold onto a draw. As a result, the 2-match unofficial Test series between the sides ends in 0-0.
