The 17-member Sri Lanka squad for the Over-50s Cricket World Cup which will be held in South Africa from 06th to 22nd March in 2023 has been named.

The side will be led by former first-class cricketer Senarath Senevirathne while Shane Fernando will act as his deputy. Shantha Gunasekara has been appointed as the team manager/coordinator for this tournament.

Among the 17 are former Sri Lanka A representatives Suwanji Madanayake and Ruvin Peiris, as well as Sri Lanka U19 cap Carmen Mapatuna.

The tournament organized for the cricketers who are aged over 50 will be played next year with the participation of 14 teams, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan, Wales, Namibia, Zimbabwe, USA, UAE and Canada. The team is set to leave the island on the 2nd of January.

Australia are the defending champions, having managed to clinch the title on the two previous occasions the tournament was held, in 2018 and 2020.
