Olympian Yupun Abeykoon has once again dazzled in the 150m sprint event at the Nissolino Roma Sprint Festival 2022 with a first-place finish yesterday (12).
Abeykoon clocked a 15.37sec timing to grab Gold in Rome, Italy in the Men’s 150m event.
The Nissolino Roma Sprint Festival was his second Men’s 150m entry for the year, the first being the Perso Trophy 2022 also in Italy in April where he set a new South Asian Record in the 150m with a timing of 15.16sec. Abeykoon also holds the title of South Asia’s fastest in the Men’s 100m event, holding the record at 10.15sec since 2021.
Abeykoon has the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games, which was postponed to 2023 due to a Covid-19 outbreak in China, to look forward to, as he was one of the first entries made from Team Sri Lanka.
