Royal College got off the block with flying colours this season as they roasted Trinity on a full day batting marathon posting 403 runs onboard at the close of day one.
Former Sri Lanka youth cricketer and this year’s Royal skipper Ahan Wickramasinghe and Sadisha Rajapaksha put on a record-breaking 362-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. This is the highest partnership by a Royal pair for any wicket against any opponent as per available records. This is also the highest partnership at Royal grounds.
The day-long batting festival saw the Royal skipper score a spectacular knock off 210 runs not-out while his partner Sadisha Rajapaksha ended the day with an unbeaten 152 runs to his name. Ahan’s 210 is also believed to be the highest score at Royal grounds by a Royalist.
Trinity skipper Abishek Anandakumar won the toss and invited the home team to bat first, this decision was largely based on the green surface and overcast conditions in the morning. However, the Royalist openers neutralized the threat imposed by the Trinity speed gun Matheesha Pathirana.
As the Royal openers eventually perished leaving the score at 41 for 2, Ahan and Sadisha started their show.
The game will resume for day-two tomorrow at 9.30 am and the live action will be brought to you by ThePapare.com
