Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union, the governing body of aquatic sports in Sri Lanka, will hold the 82nd Annual Mount Lavinia 2-Mile Sea Swim on the 2nd and 3rd of March at the Mount Lavinia beach front.

The time-honored event will attract over 1200 local and foreign participants and will be held in collaboration with the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

Hitherto, Mount Lavinia Hotel has been the tower of strength of the Mount Lavinia 2-Mile Sea Swim, the ‘Festival of Open Water Swimming’. Swimmers from country-wide compete for honors and enjoyment, which has been instrumental in attracting tourists to witness and participate in solidarity with Sri Lankans of all walks of life.

SLASU’s goal is to further encourage, promote and develop the new Olympic sport of Open Water Swimming in Sri Lanka as the scope is very wide as far as Open Water Swimming is concerned.

Mr. Kanisha Srilal, Director of Sports, Western Province will be the chief guest and Ms. Tilome Nanayakkara, Resident Manager of Mount Lavinia Hotel will be the guest of honor at the presentation ceremony on the 3rd March, commencing at 10:00am, with other distinguished invitees in attendance.

The event is a testimony to the ‘Sports for All’ vision established by the Ministry of Sports and Department of Sports Development that is approved by the Ministry of Defense with necessary assistance from Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Surf Life Saving Association and Institute of Sports Medicine that will combine with the strength of organizing committee.
