A media conference was held today at the SSC on the eve of the 53rd Battle of the Brothers, Thurstan College vs Isipathana college will be playing their traditional big match on the 26th and 27th of February at the SSC grounds.
The Isipathana camp first addressed the media and guests as the Vice President of the Cricket committee chipped in thus“Isipathana has a strong batting line up, having two players who represented Sri Lanka in the under-19 World cup. SalinduAshan the captain himself who is leading Isipathana was a part of the Under-19 World cup team which is a great pride to us. The whole team is in quite good form”

The Chairman of the Cricket Committee of Thurstan College started off saying;” Boys are motivated and looking forward for the matches. We are proud that our captain Charana was a part of the under-19 world cup squad which represented Sri Lanka”. Thurstan College will play hosts to this 53rd annual encounter where Isipathana are deemed favourites
The two main sponsors are cable manufactures. Further on this exciting encounter a LED Screen will be put up to entertain the crowd and other exciting features such as fire balls and other unique concepts are added in for more entertainment.
The Principal of the Isipathana College referred to the crowd stating “to have a good game without any problems” He further implored all Isipathana supporters to come and cheer in numbers. “We wish both the team’s success”
His counterpart the Principal of Thurstan began his talk saying; there should be a huge bond between both the teams. “There doesn’t need to be any separation. Both the crowds should not be rivals. We even know Isipathana has an amazing squad, but let’s hope for a good match”.
Isipathana Captain, Salindu Ashan also addressed the gathering, ”We need a big target to give the opponents pressure. Our main objective is to win. We are leading the all island list. We played 17 matches and won 15. Sanjula abeywickrama scored thousand runs, Pramod Maduwanta nearly 900 runs and Ayana Siriwardene 650 runs . Pramod Maduwantha, Lahiru Dilshan and Iwanke Sanjula have already picked up over 60 Wickets”
Charana Nanayakkara, the Thurstan Cricket Captain had this to say” Every player is pumped –up and doing good. I believe in my team, and I am glad this is our 53rd big match. We even have quite a good bowling squad as well. Coaches are supportive and everything is smooth. The whole team wants to bring the Cup home”
Thereafter the team captains posed with the cup for the media.
