Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Rahula College, Matara to win the 13th Battle of the Golden Lions one-day encounter played today (7th April) at the Uyanwatte Cricket Stadium in Matara.
After winning the toss, Dharmapala skipper Bisara Anjana elected to bat first on a used surface at Uyanwatte.

The Palians ended their quota of fifty overs with just 154 runs on the board for the loss of 9 wickets. Throughout the innings, Dharmapala batters struggled to find their usual scoring rhythm due to some good bowling from Rahula College and the assistance provided by the wicket for spin bowling.
Nirmal Colomabage top-scored for Dharmapala with an unbeaten 29 runs. Sadew Gamage and Risinu Geenuka were once again the pick of the bowlers for Rahula College, both ending their respective bowling spells with 3 and 2 wickets each.

In their reply, Rahula College failed to gain any momentum in their innings, losing wickets in clusters throughout the run chase. Udula Vishwajith was outstanding with the ball for Dharmapala College, picking up 5 wickets, thus setting up the victory for his alma mater by 36 runs.
