Apart from the 18 players that were selected, the original 33-player squad was invited for this trial, considering a few protests from players and requests from Amalka Gunathilake and was agreed upon by the NFSL, National Selection Committee and the Netball Selection Committee.

Sarah Peiris was the fortunate player to come out of this decision as she made it to the final 12, while Nethali Ariyanatha could only find a place in the stand-by 3. Hiruni Heshani, Udari Guruge, Tharushi Perera, Sarasi Kavindika and Dewmi Bamunuarachchi were the five players to miss the opportunity.

The Selection Committee which picked the squad was headed by former Sri Lanka Captain Damayanthi Jayathilake and included Thisangani Kodituwakku and Chamika Jayasekara.
