Dharmaraja College had no answers against Kavija Gamage and Kenula Pihilianga as the game moved swiftly towards a result by stumps on Day 2 (21st March 2026).
Resuming their innings on 28 for 2, the Rajans started positively as the first ball of the day was dispatched to the point boundary.
However, it wasn’t long before the overnight pair were back in the sheds, along with Tharindu Warnakulage as Dharmaraja College were reduced to 36 for 5 by the 21st over.
Staring down the barrel, Sasith Bandara and Mandil Gunawardhana took their team out of deep waters, putting on 72 for the 6th wicket before Bandara fell victim to Kavija Gamage.
Gunawardhana fought on, and batted well with the tail as he brought up his half century. He was the highest scorer with 59 in a Dharmaraja College innings that never really took off as they were bundled out for 160, handing Kingswood a 66 run lead. Gamage and Kenula Pihilianga shared 9 wickets between them.
Kingswood made a slowish start to their second dig, with the openers putting on 42 in 17 overs before Manula Wijethunga was dismissed for 19.
Aadhel Sheriff and Chanul Kodithuwakku then put on a solid second wicket stand before the latter was run out for 31. Gamage and Sheriff saw out the rest of the day as Kingswood put themselves in pole position to push for a result on day 3, as they’ll start the day with a healthy 168 run lead on an Asgiriya surface that’s quickly deteriorating.
