Stand-in skipper, Shashikala Siriwardena won the toss and invited the lasses from Bangladesh to bat first on the Royal Selangor Club wicket at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Sri Lankan women who started seeing the back of the Bangla Women from the second ball of the match, bundled them out for a mere 63 runs with 3 balls to spare off the allotted 120 deliveries. Highly praised left-arm spinner Sugandhika Kumari grabbed 3 wickets giving away just 17 runs in her 4 overs. Inoka Ranaweera who was added to the squad due to all-rounder Ama Kanchana’s withdrawal with to illness, impressed with figures of 2 for 15 in her 4 overs. Udeshika Prabodhani and Oshadi Ranasinghe also chipped in with 2 wickets apiece. Skipper Siriwardena contributed with the price scalp of Ayasha Rahman who was the only batter from Bangladesh who looked threatening.

Having done brilliantly in the first half of the match, the Sri Lankan openers continued the gained momentum scoring more than half of the target. The opening pair of Yasoda Mendis(20) and Nipuni Hansika(28) put on a partnership of 39 runs before right-arm off spinner Khadija Tul Kubra got rid of Mendis. This was Mendis’ come-back game after missing the previous series due to injury. Kubra went on to add two more scalps to her list of victims before finishing her 4 overs giving away only 13 runs. Wicket-keeper Rebecca Vandort and Nilakshi De Silva remained unbeaten when Sri Lanka went past Bangladesh’s score of 63 in the 15th over.
