The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation has selected a preliminary squad of 18 for the upcoming 19th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship.
The tournament will be held in Manila, Philippines from the 9th – 17th August.
The squad includes 10 players from the squad which won the silver medal at the 2016 South Asian Games and five players from the Sri Lanka U23 side.

U23 captain Thilini Wasana Perera and Vice-captain Thakshila Madurangi were among the among the SAG squad. The other U23 players include Kaveesha Lakshani, Apsara Sewmali and Sachini Charuka.
Dinesha Prashadini captain, Viraji Chamarika vice-captain, Kanchana Dilhani, Wasana Madumali, Hashini Lakshika, Chathurika Ranasinghe, Iresha Surangani and Dilusha Sanjeewani are the others from the 2016 SAG squad.
Dinesha Prashadini was adjudged the Best Player at the 2016 Dialog President’s Gold Cup and the Best Attacker at the 2016 Munchee National Volleyball Championship while Ashani Chamodika was the Best Setter at the Munchee National Volleyball Championship.

Chathurika Ranasinghe was the Best Setter at the Dialog President’s Gold Cup and bagged both the Best Blocker and Best Player awards at the Munchee National Volleyball Championship. The veteran 34 year old Iresha Surangani will add much needed experience to the youthful squad and Thakshila Madurangi who is just 20 years old was adjudged the Best Receiver at the Munchee National Volleyball Championship.
